Ive just started playing guitar at my youth group, but it seems that i constantly find myself doing it for self-glorification. It’s not that i’m questioning the purpose of worship, its just that i can’t be singing songs to the people, i need to sing to God and be heard by the people.
please tell me the reason(s) for singing to God
please, no people trying to say there isnt a purpose answer, you believe what you want, but i sugjest picking up a bible

He’s not real. Sing what you want to sing, music is an art.
God is already with you. why not help others get to him by singing?
Christian music is no different from any other, a lot of people do it because they love it (and by extension love god), but a lot more do it because they want attention. This is a problem with you that you need to figure out, it doesn’t have anything to do with christian music. You need to figure out how to stop your attention-seeking behaviour.
If you’re not an organist or a classical singer, stay away from christian music. Christian rock is a genre that was never meant to exist, it makes religion less intelligent and rock music less enjoyable. You can be a christian and a contemporary artist, just don’t be a christian contemporary artist. The rest of the music world has just about had it with you people.
we sing to God because often times singing is a much easier way to feel closer to God and it is an enjoyable experience. maybe next time you are singing in front of the youth group just act as if you are by yourself and let the spirit lead you
Music is art, intended to be enjoyed by man.
I’m sure God has more entertaining things than teenagers with guitars at His heavenly disposal.
Sing about how you feel (it’s good for your body to release your emotions in a postitive manner). If that means God, then so be it.
